Any Shakespeare Nerds in the House?

Post by acrouch »

Hey, are you an improviser who also has some proficiency in or passion for Shakespeare? I'm curious who all is out there?

I used to be really into it, competed in some monologue competitions, acted in a few high school productions, and studied at the Texas Shakespeare Festival. But then improv took over. :)
Did the two seasons of improvised shakespeare at the Hideout and also some stuff with the cupholders.

I really loved Beth Burn's production of The Taming of the Shrew.
It's hard to find a good production that really makes the text and characters come alive in such an enrapturing way.
I've seen a few gruesome productions of Titus Andronicus, which is always pulpy fun.

I love Shakespeare and should know way more about his work than I do.

I will admit to not being as knowledgeable about Shakespeare as I should be (or as I thought I was prior to meeting Lizz) but I do enjoy doing it a lot.
The silver knives are flashing in the tired old cafe. A ghost climbs on the table in a bridal negligee. She says "My body is the life; my body is the way." I raise my arm against it all and I catch the bride's bouquet.

I have an English degree from UT, and I've read a LOT of Shakespeare. Been in one play. Never tried Shakespearean improv.
