THE OoB WORKSHOPS OVERVIEW
Posted: August 14th, 2012, 11:23 am
Classes are filling up quickly in what I think is OoB's finest roster of teachers ever.
SOLD OUT
Stephen Kearin: If You See It, They Will See It
Adsit & Lutz: Back to the Basics
Deanna Fleyscher: Naked Comedy
(there has since been a second class added for Deanna)
CLOSE TO SOLD OUT
Rafe Chase: Character Switching
Eric Hunicutt: Did You See That?
Registration is available here: http://www.outofboundscomedy.com/workshopspanels/
There are slots available in some other powerhouse classes. Here is my take on them as well as which of our local improv schools' training they would most complement or most contrast.
Jeff Griggs: Fast, But Not Furious Jeff is an amazing teacher and is responsible for much of the curriculum taught in iO Chicago. He understands deeply the variable speeds that improv can operate under.
Most complements: ColdTowne and Institution training
Most likely to blow minds: Merlin Works and Hideout
Tim Orr: Jumping in with Both Feet Tim is the consummate stage performer, as are all of the 3 For All members. Everything he does on stage is informed by his knowledge of theater and all the possibilities that are opened by that.
Most complements: Hideout training
Most likely to blow minds: ColdTowne and New Movement
Deanna Fleyscher: Naked Company Deanna is a veritable encyclopedia of clowning technique which is a great complement to improv training. Clowning is a deeply personal artform and helps pull out the improviser you are meant to be.
Most complements: Institution
Most likely to blow minds: Merlin Works
Beer Shark Mice: Longform Intensive Beer Shark Mice is one of those legendary, all-star rosters. Also, they have the years of experience which means they have seen all the changes that improvisation has gone through over the last twenty years. Seeing that has taught them what is important and how to cut the bullshit out of their work.
Most complements: New Movement
Most likely to blow minds: Institution and Hideout
