Killer Joe opens in Austin

Post by Shawn »

Hi from New York. I work for a company that finances and produces movies. Our first film KILLER JOE opens in Austin on Friday and I hope all y'all come out to support it! The film is "A TOTALLY TWISTED DEEP-FRIED TEXAS REDNECK MURDER STORY"

KILLER JOE (http://www.killerjoethemovie.com/) starring Matthew McConaughey, Gina Gershon, Emile Hirsh, Juno Temple, and Thomas Hayden Church opens in Austin on Friday Aug 3rd at the Arbor and Violet Crown. The film was directed by Billy Friedkin (The Exorcist, The French Connection).

I really hope you see it, invite friends, and spread the word. It is a dark comedy that just got five stars in Time Out New York.

“This is a lurid, shocking, darkly funny and twisted story; one of the best movies of the year. ” -Richard Roeper

Fair warning...it is a very edgy dark comedy that was rated NC-17

We saw a production of Killer Joe at Hyde Park a year and change ago. It's... yeah. Pretty fucked up. I can't wait to see the film version.

very cool.

As I understand the screenplay was written by the original playwright, Tracy Letts, and directed by William Friedkin who directed 'The Exorcist', so I imagine they captured the raw feeling of the play.

I'm hoping to check it out.

"Killer Joe" was a hot sleaze-coated poker to the gut. Crisply directed by the great William Friedkin, stellar acting from the entire cast (most notably McConnaughey who was totally jacked into the part and brilliant), and lots of dark humor and desperate plotting. Not for everyone, but if you like edgy stuff and want to see a f---ing movie, it's not to be missed.

Awesome that you were a part of it, Shawn!
