obviously, the Wu Yun Saga will someday be optioned and adapted across several media. so i thought we could get a head start on casting options (besides Chow Yun Fat in the lead role, which Peter's oracular thread has already declared. :P ). so who would we like to see?

(and if you have no idea what i'm talking about, then you're missing some of the greatest modern storytelling known to man: http://forum.austinimprov.com/viewtopic.php?t=13360 )

here's my initial list...

Dramatis Personae

Wu Yun: Chow Yun Fat
Jesse Calhoun: Timothy Olyphant
Cassandra: Rachel Weisz
Audie McCray: Josh Brolin
Doc Jenkins: Gary Oldman
Horatio Dicks: Powers Boothe
Sheriff Brettsdick: Michael Emerson
Unknown: Bruce Greenwood
Red Boy: ???

If you go off that list of celebrity actors, who would be whom? Clearly Lampe is Powers Booth, Aaron Walthers is Timothy Olyphant. Whom else.....

ooh, the improv celebrity doppelganger game. ;) Kevin Miller or Peter Rogers could do Michael Emerson justice. i'd probably say Sarah Marie or Ruby for Rachel Weisz (though Jen Blair would make that list if she were still in town). Kareem for Josh Brolin. Troy for Bruce Greenwood, maybe. hmm...

i had the idea at one point to cast the writers in the thread, if we ever decided to make a show out of it...this was more a fun mental exercise, because i like playing casting games. 8)

I love how incredibly obvious it is that Powers Boothe plays Horatio Dicks. Nobody else would ever cross my mind.

i thought McRaney might bring a slightly less obvious sinisterness to it, make him more sympathetic to understand why the people love him publicly. but yeah, Boothe was the first place my brain went.
