Once a month, The Institution Theater celebrates three chosen improvisers who have birthdays that month by spotlighting them in their very own CLUSTERFUNK. Each improviser is given a 25-minute slot to fill with whatever that improviser wants to perform in. An improviser’s troupe. A fan-favorite’s show return. Or even a completely original format created by the birthday improviser.
This month's Birthday Sets will be:
JUSTIN DAVIS presents BIRTHDAY TRAGEDIES
Justin Davis will tell stories involving the surprising number of birthdays in his life that had some sort of tragic or unfortunate element to them and a cast of players create improv scenes inspired by said stories, often trying to find a positive spin. Featuring Ryan Austin, Colin Bates, Justin Davis, Karen Dewitt, Aden Kirschner, Jessie Pascarelli, and Katie Thornton.
PETER ROGERS presents VIOLENT MATTERS
Peter Rogers puts on Violet Matters, which is a few people from the popular Hideout show Violet Underbelly and a few people from the hit Gnap! Productions False Matters to create a 25-minute film noir/Phillip K. Dick mash-up. Featuring Kristin Firth, Courtney Hopkin, David Lampe, Marc Majcher, Jay Michael, Peter Rogers, and Ruby Willmann.
JASON VINES presents SPEED DATE
Three girls each take a suggestion of a secret/quirk that they have and Vines must guess what it is during the course of two rounds of two-minute long speed dates with each girl. Then, Vines will choose his date and the audience sees that first date play out for the remainder of the show. Featuring JenRaye Adams, Cat Drago, Kayla Lane Freeman, and Jason Vines.
After the Birthday Clusterfunk, The Institution Theater invites everyone to stick around for an after-show party with drinks and food.
Hosted by Justin Davis (improviser, Institution Theater instructor, and June birthday boy), the theater hopes to turn the Birthday Clusterfunk into your monthly entertainment and party destination.
