The 43-Hour Improv Marathon

Winner: Austin Critic's Table 'Time Out of Mind' Award

At 5:00pm on Friday, June 1st, The Hideout's eight marathon improvisers will take the stage and stay there until noon on Sunday, June 3rd, performing 43 straight hours of improvisational theater and comedy without sleep or respite.

Each hour of the marathon will be a separate show, featuring classic and upcoming Hideout formats, one-off shows never to be seen again, and guest troupes and players from Austin's ever-growing improv community.

In addition to driving 8 improvisers to the brink of insanity, The 43-Hour Improv Marathon will also raise money for scholarships to The Hideout's children's educational programs.

The Hideout hopes to raise $3,000 to cover the tuition costs for 20 deserving students.

Most shows will be $5. A limited number of full marathon passes will be available for $75.

This year's core 8 players are: John Ratliff, Emma Holder, Jon Bolden, Halyn Lee Erickson, Eric Heiberg, Jill Bernard, Roy Janik, and Marc Majcher.

Will there be a video stream this year, so we can make a donation, then watch online?

This is hands down my favorite Hideout event of the year. I'll be around in a support role for a lot of the Marathon, and I'd love to see all of you there at some point.

And if The Bat with ColdTowne (Hour 12 at 4am on Saturday morning) isn't sold out, it will be a crying shame. It's my favorite show of the marathon every year.

Looks like I'm actually gonna be able to make it to the Bat, possibly!

"... Jastroch, mighty Jastroch, was advancing to the bat..."

And Mudville holds its collective breath.

Parents and kids of all ages, What's The Story Steve would love to have as many children as possible come to our show in the Marathon on Saturday at 10am. Watch the sleepy core cast deal with children onstage and an improvising poodle (whose voice, it is rumoured, will be supplied by Jill Bernard)! So get the kids down to the Hideout and they will have a great time!

Woot!
