Guys,
ColdTowne Theater improv classes start Wednesday May 30th! If you're an improviser looking to bone up on your skills or get a new perspective on scene work, now's your chance to jump on in.
We've got some of the most experienced instructors in Austin, including the objectively best teacher* John Ratliff. Not to mention Dave Buckman, Irene White, Josh Krilov and more! Not to mention me. I'm pretty great.
We throw you right into the mix in level 1. You're doing scenes on the first day of class, while working the basics -- yes, and, listening, space work -- and delving into the deeper emotional and comedic content of the scenes.
We believe that the most exciting, interesting, fun, funny scenes come from playing the moment. And when you play the moment, ANYTHING CAN HAPPEN.
We ran a deal on the social media site Scout Mob. I'd like to extend that offer to people in the AIC. $125/off level one classes. That's right. MORE THAN HALF OFF.
We also have some internships available for you, if you're interested.

Weird. I totally thought I responded to this. I know I wrote something, guess it didn't post!Roy Janik wrote:I'll just barge in and say start at level 1. The general policy is to start at level 1, and I think that it is generally beneficial to do so. We have a different perspective, focus and training methods than the other schools -- particularly the Hideout and Merlin Works* -- and it never hurts to work the basics. If it helps, you're doing scenes on day one of level one while working hard on agreement, play, characters and listening.
That said, we do make exceptions on a case by case basis and have bumped people to level 2 in the past if it's an issue. I personally am a big fan of level 1. Frankly, I think you learn pretty much everything you need to know on the first day of class. The rest is just practicing and unpacking those lessons.
*PS, this is obviously not meant as a judgement on anyone's perspective focus or methods. Just observing that ColdTowne level 1 is different than other level 1s. I feel compelled to point that out for the sake of good vibes between me and other teachers and performers that I have great admiration for and all the awesome performers who have come out of other schools. Namaste.
