Austin Improv

This is for UT students- I took an improv class last summer and loved it! The teacher, Joan Lazarus, has asked us alums to spread the word that she is teaching it again this summer.

Register for this interactive class and join other students in exploring diverse approaches to improvisation. Students will relate their experiences with improvisation and theatre games to classroom, rehearsal, performance, business and/or community settings. The class schedule allows students an in-depth, unique learning experience over the 3 weeks of instruction.

It was intense- a very packed two and a half hours each day. It wasn't like any improv class/workshop I've ever taken- it's more like improv for people who will become teachers/public speakers, etc. I got a lot out of it so you may be interested as well.

does this count for a visual arts credit?

I don't know Ruby- I got it as an upper division theatre credit. Maybe look in the course catalog?

i took this class many, many years ago and i dug it. i'm pretty sure it is not a visual arts credit though.

Professor Lazarus, beyond having the coolest name ever, is also an awesome instructor. go for it!

No. No way am I taking classes from such an obvious supervillain. Next thing you know I'm ten miles underground, staring at a gigantic glowing map, wondering how I got in this jumpsuit. No thanks.
