i dont agree with all of this but some of it is very illuminating, especially for people who like to do or direct improv on film.

this was clearly filmed a while ago (coinciding with A Mighty Wind)...i wonder if he's seen any narrative improv since then that's changed his mind.
i've had the "can you train/teach people how to act?" discussion a lot. i think you can cultivate and train the talent that's already there, but i don't think you can "teach" talent out of nothing. so i mostly agree with him on that point.

It's interesting to me that he talks to people instead of auditioning them. I have met a lot of improvisers in passing in Chicago and I haven't figured out a ton of correlation between actions/conversations in real life and show quality. But then maybe that's why I'm not a famous director.
