I believe Mr. Shannon McCormick is teaching a class on using what you know this coming Saturday, 1-4pm at the Hideout theatre. $25
The Saturday class series has been fantastic so far. We've had great classes and strong attendance. If you haven't checked out a class yet, you should roll up on Shannon this weekend.

That's right Andy, I am teaching this Saturday. I'll be teaching a class called Use What You Know. Uh, okay, what does that mean?
Well, improvisers are taught to be open and receptive, to avoid planning ahead, to live in the moment. This is good, but there can be a dark side. If you don't bring something of yourself to your improv, you can end up making "improv" choices. Sure, monkeys, ninjas, and ,*ahem*, pirates can be great to play, but we see them all the time. I'd rather see your graduate math professor, your Aunt Jane, your family's long history in the glove making trade.
So, my class will explore ways to connect your improvisation with those aspects of your life that only you know to create unique, idiosyncratic, and memorable scenes that you can be proud of. Expect a lot of scene work and a field trip over break. Bring paper and pen to write on and with.
See you on Saturday. Maybe?

Seriously, a lot of people that would otherwise take this Saturday's workshop are in Chicago and won't be able to make it. Which means we need YOU to take this workshop.
Maybe you've taken one already this summer. Maybe you've been waiting for the right class to come along. Maybe you think you don't have the cash for classes.
Take this class this Saturday. You owe it to yourself and to the collective (which when Aurthur announced we were part of a collective when asked by Chicago people how we all knew each other, I felt a little silly or suspicious). Improv in Austin will only get better if we all work our asses off to get better.
Come get better.

Shannon McCormick rocks!
But I will be in NY this Saturday and unable to see your awesome Get Up! show or take your enlightening class. Ug!

Oh yes, if you can come either PM me, IM me, or declare your allegiance on the boards.
Cheers.

My heart is true; my band is flaky. I'm waiting to hear if I have practice on Saturday, but if not, I'm definitely going to be bringing what I have. With both hands.

There's no thinking to it. Money is tight. But I give mad props to Shannon's skills. You will learn something useful.

Thanks to the flexibility of my flaky band, I can make it. I might have to leave a few minutes early, though.

We're up ot two for Saturday. I'd like to get to 6 to make it worthwhile. If there is interest from folks who are out of town this weekend, maybe we can reschedule. Anyway, let me know.

I can't do it on Saturday (or for a while) but I definitely want to take this class at some point. I just can't fit workshops into my schedule right now.

I'll give this until this evening to get to 6 people (I originally wrote hit 6 people, but that sounded weird). If not, I'll reschedule for later in the fall. Thanks everyone.

Shannon's workshop will be rescheduled for some Saturday after Out of Bounds when the Summer Workshop series becomes the Fall Workshop series.
