It occurred to me last night, and correct me if I'm wrong, that there's not a single calendar anywhere listing what's going on at each of the Five Theaters. It's hard for me to keep it straight in my head sometimes. So I'm gonna start this thread and see if I can remember to keep it going.

Roy used to do it on the AIC homepage. Years ago I tried to create a master calendar using feeds but the ease of technology was not quite there. I wonder if it's possible now that some time has passed. Hmmm...

Kevin, Great post - silly follow up question: Do they all have Google Calendars? Can this lovely AIC tool show all 5 or link to all 5?
Bolden reads minds and is brilliant!

That was the approach I originally took, however, sometimes their calendars showed items not meant for public i.e., "Leave check for Mr. Smith". The problem I was having was being able to filter out those events and aggregate properly. Also, I was getting stuff like that times being incorrect, etc... It was a mess.
BUT, I'm sure technology has gotten better in that regard and someone out there might be an XML wiz.

Just a note: Jam City is for everyone! Not just teacher's and students.

I'd love to see an "All Improv Theaters" calendar somewhere. It is difficult to keep it all straight.

You know how sometimes you think something and then suddenly everyone is talking about it?
...yeah. This is one of those times. Especially for newbies like me, having a calendar with everything that's happening (including workshops/auditions/open social events) would be so helpful!!

I know the tech geeks would love to have something that sort of updated automatically from the theaters' various websites, but I wonder if it would be that hard for someone to just create a google calendar that we'd all have access to and each theater would be responsible for putting their stuff up on it? That's something that could be implemented right away, would take someone at each theater 20 minutes a month to input information into and would be used and appreciated by many, many people... you know with, like, a different color for each theater, one for social events, one for auditions, etc...

That's good to know, the calendar description suggests otherwise:
JAM CITY is our free late night short form, drunk prov extravaganza. This free-for-all is open to students and faculty.

Awesome Kevin! So amazing to see that listed all together. I have to add, even though it's after the fact, that AIC was well represented at another theater last night too:
FRONTERA FEST Best-Of-Week 8pm at HYDE PARK THEATER:
South of Tennessee (Improvised Tennessee Williams) with Topping Haggerty and Susannah Raulino
McNichol & May are Breeders (sketch)
Handbomb (The New Movement) Misinterprets Romeo & Juliet

According to Ashley Nugent via Facebook, tonight's 7:00 Coldtowne show also features Strategery: Ashley, Amy Carpenter, Dan Grimm, Lisa Jackson, and Brent D Foshee. Funny people, all.

I love this man!!
It reminds of way, way, WAY back in the day (the mid-80's to be exact) in NYC there was a telephone number you could call (212-OPEC-SID) and it was an answering machine that listed all the Punk and similarly alternative shows for that week. Improv is so Punk Rock
