Austin Improv

I just got this and have to call the guy today, so please respond asap. Primary parts are already taken, but extras and especially a reputable hair and make-up person are needed.

"My name is Sami Mustaklem and I am coming to Austin next week to shoot a national television campaign for a jewelry brand that my company has partnered with. Would you be available to speak with me over the phone today? We need a hair and makeup artist and a few extras here and there to fill in our spot and Jim tells me you're the guy to talk to."

Please get to me with interest or reccomendations and I'll put him in touch with you.

p.s. I'm NOT "the guy to talk to" but somehow I stumbled into the position.

What's the pay?

If it really is "national", they should have decent money to throw around.

I would think so, but I've little experience in national spots. I just know a guy who knows this guy so it seemed a wee bit odd to go this route instead of contracting with a casting director here but I guess we'll see.

Oh, and I won't know about the pay until after I talk to him this afternoon. Currently administering semester finals so I'll talk to him later today and post here.

Evidently this is a very inexperienced agency (or in house, not sure which) and even though they plan on a national buy, they're coming here to shoot to avoid having to pay SAG/AFTRA wages. (I have deduced this, no confirmation.) They're looking for extras to be a bartender, the female lead's best friend, a sales clerk in a dress shop, a small group at a karaoke bar. As he said they were on a tight budget, I said people would expect around $35-$50 for the shoot. Haven't heard back from him yet, but if that's too expensive for him I'll post his offer here. Much less than that though and I'll tell him to post it for free on Craig's List and some people would likely do it just to be in a commercial, unless anyone wants to do it for their resume'.

I'm going to post the director's name and email address here along with the details of the shoot so you can get in touch with him. His name is Sami Mustaklem, email address sami@3rdstrandllc.com. The shoot will be at 8:00 a.m. this Friday 1/20 at Egos bar Congress just south of Riverside. Pay is only $35, but it could be fun for the exposure. He needs 3 males and 2 females dressed for an average night out at a bar. I'm assuming 20's to 30's.
