Cody & A Friend (Saturdays in Jan)
Posted: January 4th, 2012, 12:02 pm
Every Saturday in January ColdTowne instructor/director/performer Cody Dearing will celebrate the radness of a current student from the ColdTowne Conservatory by performing a 2 person show with them.
One act of the performance will be an experimental form of Cody's choosing.
The other act will be a longform based off of an audience suggestion.
The first student performer will be Mac Blake, a soon-to-be ColdTowne graduate who writes and performs in The Hustle Show, Stag Comedy, Hot Property, and improvises in Sock Dragon, Beertown Beers, Tears but Joy, and Mascot Wedding.
The first experimental format is rumored to be "some kind of 2 person cop film".
Tickets are $5, and as always the show is BYOB.
Saturdays in January
8:30pm
**SPECIAL NOTE**
On Jan 14th the part of "Cody" will be played by the incredibly talented ERIKA MAY MCNICHOL!
FUTURE RAD STUDENTS:
Jan 14 - GIL CARDENAS
Jan 21 - COURTNEY SEVENER
Jan 28 - KEVIN WILLIAMSON (w/ special guest tech-fingers Nathan Livni)

About Me (Cody): I am profoundly excited to be able to perform a two person show with some of my past students. I can not wait to rejoice in their glory...I am a member of the groups Scout, Two Minute Brother, and Stool Pigeon. I currently teach level 4 (the harold) at ColdTowne. I have studied with instructors from Improv Olympic (Chicago), the Upright Citizen’s Brigade (LA/NY), Second City (Chicago), The Annoyance (Chicago), Coldtowne Theater (Austin), and more. I recently received some heartwarming recognition from my peers for directing an unscripted summer camp horror show "Slaughter Your Shorts". I have also received several local awards and recognitions including: “First Date” Winner of the 2009 Austin’s Funniest Filmmaker competition; Best New Format “Look Cookie” from 2008 Austin Improv Collective Awards; Nominated by the Austin Improv Collective in 2008 and 2007 for Best Absurd Scenes, and Most Fearless Improviser; Best Improv Troupe “Look Cookie” from 2007 The A-List (Austin); Best Sketch “The Shower Scene” in the 2006 Lone Star Sketch Fest (Austin).
