I just moved into a lovely affordable housing place on east 6th street. The Villa's on 6th. I'm not sure how long the wait list is right now. But if you are under a certain income and/or a student, then you can get it for cheaper. My 2 bedroom is $750 a month. There is a pool and fitness room. The place is nice and the staff are nice, and it is 1.5 miles from the Hideout.

If this isn't good for you I saw some nice-ish places on South 1st when I was looking.

I live about 4 lights East of 35 between Riverside and Oltorf in a complex called Bluffs at Town Lake. The 2 bedroom we live in goes for $750-850 a month. We get free wifi, a cyber cafe, a 9 foot deep pool, a fitness center with an indoor basketball hoop, free yoga and free personal training.
One of the best deals I've come across.
