Improv on the North Side?

Post by SenseiKrystal »

I'm not sure if this is the right place for this, but it's worth a shot.

Does anyone know of any improv classes, workshops, whatever, on the north side of town? I have LOVED my classes at the Institution, but hauling my happy butt down there has proven difficult sometimes. (I live in Wells Branch and work in Far West)

So, now that I'm done with level 3 (sadness), I was thinking maybe I could find something a little closer to home.

Does anyone know of anything?

Thanks!!

North Austin tends to be a cultural wasteland. I'm not aware of anything up on this end of town, unfortunately.

I think the Northiest Improv you'll get is Coldtowne, at Airport and 48th.

ColdTowne is the northmost improv place in Austin. As a CT alum, I highly recommend it.

For all those in the North Austin Cultural Wasteland, stay tuned for a new "School of Puppetry Improvisation" coming in the early part of 2012.

Puppets in a Wasteland. This WILL happen.

The silver knives are flashing in the tired old cafe. A ghost climbs on the table in a bridal negligee. She says "My body is the life; my body is the way." I raise my arm against it all and I catch the bride's bouquet.

I'm also in Wells Branch. That's the main reason why I don't attend as many improv events as I'd like to.

Penfold Theatre has plans to build in Round Rock. When they do, perhaps they'll be willing to support an improv "wing."

Come along to the Northern Imp lunch on Friday if you want to meet some cool northern-dwelling improvisers:

You can see me performing at The Hideout Pub almost nightly up north... Stop in some time and I'll "Yes-and" the hell out of you... (performance includes watching me drink booze)
Chicken Fried Steak and all that...

Aghh, I would love to go, but I don't know if I can be out from work that long. How often do ya'll do this? I might be able to do it with more notice to my job.

This will be the second, the first was a couple months ago. So, periodically.

EDIT: You don't HAVE to be away from work for the entire hour-and-a-half.

I don't think I can make it tomorrow, but I would love, love to be included in the next go 'round!
