World Series of Pop Culture: Texas Represent!

Post by macarthur31 »

Hey Austin friends,

Quick heads up for your viewing consideration. Tonight your Houston friends, Michael Garcia (Massive, Scorpions) and myself are competing on VH-1's World Series of Pop Culture. Our team, Ronnie, Bobby, Ricky and Mike begin our quest for the $250,000. I invite you to watch and cheer us on. Even though it's already taped and the outcome has been determined, it'll be good for your karma. Or you can also tune in an second guess us, or berate us for choking on a question.

They've been airing first round matches all-week at 9pm Central/10pm Eastern. Then it shifts to just Thursday nights at that timeslot as they move into the semi-finals/finals.

Why wasn't I told about this!?
My head is chocked full of useless pop culture knowledge!

Sahquille O'Neill attended LSU.
Stargate is the longest running syndicated science fiction series.
More than 100 million people tuned in to watch the final episode of M*A*S*H. That's 60% of all US households!
Tim Burton's first movie was Pee-Wee's Big Adventure.

Gah!
How do we get in this thing for next season?
"I do."

Awesome! I'm so envious. "Good" "Luck" on your already determined competition.

There'll be a second season if the ratings are high enough. A good sign is that the VH-1 website is already inviting people to audition for the next round. I don't know of that's wishful thinking, or if they've already got the deal sealed.

I definitely recommend you Pop Culture savvy Austin Improvisers to check it out. You've already got a leg up on the competition in that you're comfortable on stage, and you're all about the "yes-and." As much as VH-1 wants folks who know stuff, they also want interesting people competing. In addition to us, two Chicago teams are stocked with improvisers...

Plus its a shot at 250K! Who knows, it may be even more next year...
