ellen is finally introducing herself...
I just realized I never made an introduction post, and never got the tidal wave of welcome replies!
So here it is, and here's my story. I'm sticking to it.
Born October 26, 1987, to a farmer and a physical therapist in Middletown, IN, Ellen attended a small Catholic school until grade 5, while playing softball and soccer and basically excelling at living. She continued her education at Shenandoah Schools from 6th until 10th grade, when she realized she'd better get out of Middletown before she ended up wanting to stay forever. Always saying yes to opportunity, she applied for and was accepted to the Indiana Academy for Science, Mathematics, and Humanities on the campus of Ball State University in Muncie, IN. The Academy is a residential high school for students from all over the state of Indiana, and turned out to be quite the turning point in young Ellen's life. She made lifelong friends, learned how to learn and think critically about everything, and discovered an interest in biology during an AP class her senior year. From there, she went on to Purdue University, where she joined the Women's Ultimate Frisbee team and Alpha Gamma Delta. These were both social clubs of a sort, but on completely different ends of the spectrum. But that's how Ellen is, doing whatever strikes her as interesting. She earned her Bachelor's in Biology in 2010, but not before meeting Tom, a student from nearby Wabash College. The two became fast friends and began dating soon after. When Tom graduated in 2009, he moved to Austin, his hometown, to attend graduate school at the University of Texas. Ellen decided to skip town again, but only temporarily, and studied for a semester in Sweden. She came home and had one of the best semesters ever, and moved to Austin to be nearer to Tom while he finished school. She now is a retail manager for Express at Highland Mall, as well as an eager new improviser, ready to take on the world.
P.S. If you have a job opening for someone like Ellen, with lab experience and a degree from a great, no, an excellent university, please direct interest to eepittsford [at] gmail [dot] com.
