Anyone in our community in used auto sales?

General 'help wanted' and 'for sale' notices minus the ubiquitous 'free kittens' posts.

Anyone in our community in used auto sales?

I can't think of anyone but thought I'd see. I'll probably be buying a car soon and I've never bought used before. Looking for someone I can trust.

There's lots of resources online about how to successfully haggle. I bookmarked this one previously: http://jalopnik.com/5570813/how-to-nego ... a-used-car

Buying private-party is generally better than buying from a used-car dealer.

I agree with Kevin. Car dealers are out to make money...individuals usually just don't want to lose money. As long as you have a mechanic you trust that will check it out, it seems you'd be less likely to get screwed.

We got our Prius through http://www.hertzcarsales.com/

You get a free 2 hour rental so you can get it inspected, or just see what you hate/like about a particular model. Up to a 3-day paid rental (that is free if you buy the car).

No haggle pricing that was competitive at the time with (even private sellers)

And you're picking up from actual rental locations.

I'm torn on rental-car sales offices… they're used by many people who aren't especially careful with the cars while they have them. But then, mechanics can spot a lot of the problem areas for you.

Little known fact... most of the road side rental car "dealers" are just used car dealers with a rental company name (even Hertz). They buy cars wholesale just like other used car dealers.

And here's another opinion
