The Glamping Trip (David Hess and John Ratliff) are thrilled to be hosting The HIdeout Theatre's Thursday Threefer every Thursday in August. Just three bucks gets you off the street and into the AC to see three state-of-the-art improv ensembles.

The Glamping Trip has been together since 2009. We play "grounded improv." If you're reading this you know what improv is. In our case, "grounded" means that we play recognizably human characters and we don't bail on them if they turn out to be a little sad or awkward. (Don't worry, they're still funny.)

Think less Whose Line Is It Anyway? and more Who's Afraid of Virginia Woolf? Though maybe not so much drinking and hollering.

Because we only meet them once, we try to show our characters a good time. We hope to do the same for you.

I saw the Glamping Trip last night and they were awesome! If you like improvisation that has a nice, easy start into a story, performers who fearlessly take one another on and into characters that are tragicomic and relatable, you've got to check out one of their shows on Thursdays. Three bucks? It doesn't get sweeter than that. They moved around the space, they wove in and out of scenes previous and new, and really got vulnerable a couple of times. Smart improvisation, patient improvisation, and just damn good improvisation. Huzzah!
