Possible Workshop this Saturday 11-2?

Post by macarthur31 »

Hello Austin Friends,

I'm coming up to perform with Massive and Tight on Friday night at the Three-fer, and I'm hoping to stick around the next day to conduct a workshop in town. (perhaps 11a-2pm?)

At this point, I don't have a location to workshop at. However, I'm interested in workshopping with intermediate/advanced improvisers. Possible themes: discovering/revealing truth, the intersection of vulnerability and absurdity, operating from power, multiperson scenes. I'd love to create a space for folks to make the strange familiar, and the familiar strange. I want to create an affirming risk-taking space. Over the past year, I've been creating new exercises, and trying new methods, and I'd love to share them with my Austin friends.

Ideal workshop for me: 6-12 people. Cost? Well, I'd like to cover the cost of the room, and make 100 bucks. I don't see it more than $20 bucks per person.

If you're interested in participating, PM or e-mail me.

peace,
mac

Mac, you're welcome to use the classroom space at the Hideout for a low low fee. : )

And I'd be interested in taking the class.

Hey folks --

Thanks for PM/e-mailing me your feedback so soon!

The workshop is on this Saturday from 11 a.m. - 2 p.m., upstairs at the Hideout - 20 bucks a person.

Workshop topic: Right now I'm fascinated by exploring the "heart" and "truth" within scenes. How to be vulnerable and powerful on stage. How can silence be an ally? I want to invite you to focus your energy, rather than dissipate it. If you're interested in being clever and witty, you'll probably think that this workshop is dumb. If you're afraid to reveal yourself, or explore your shadow side -- you probably won't dig what I'm trying to do. However, I think that improvisers get stale because they rely on their stock, safe choices -- this workshop will challenge you to get out of that.

I want to cap it at 12 people. So, e-mail me at info@massivecreativity.com to reserve a spot.

thanks,
mac

I really enjoyed this workshop a bunch. I now have a better grasp on starting scenes
and feel more comfortable pushing my character's emotion.

Thanks, Mac!
