Is there any kind of central resource for finding information about the various improv festivals (and comedy festivals that feature improv)? It seems more and more are cropping up and I'm curious about how many there are and when they are and where they are.
If such a thing doesn't exist, I have a strong interest in developing such a hub. It'd be a stripped down website that would be easy to update and change, as this kind of information would surely change often.
I'm not sure if I'll do it or not, and especially won't if it already exists, but I just thought I'd ask. It might turn out to be a headache for very little gain, but I'm still thinking about it.
I'm interested in this for a few reasons, obviously one is just to know what the options are for submitting and touring and doing improv in other places.
I would think if it doesn't exist, I'd like it to include the following info:
Festival name, location, dates, submission (if applicable), submission dates (if applicable), details (is it strictly improv, or other acts too)
Anything else you'd want to see on such a hub?
Improv Festival Central Hub
Keeping improv viable and solvent and saving the chaos for the stage.

I know that the YesAnd.com forums have a bunch listed

But I'd like it to be something searchable, organized so you can look at it by place, date, etc.

You guys, I am working on one as we speak!
I actually expect to launch it in a limited form in the next few weeks.
It's an idea whose time has come, apparently.

I'm glad I made this post, because part of me was thinking of just DOING it since I didn't see that it already existed.

kacey samiee had the idea to have a page where users can frankly rate the festivals they've been to, so not only do you find out about new festivals, you find out which ones are worth going to. i think this would be awesome.
there's also a facebook profile that some festivals use: http://www.facebook.com/pages/Improv-Fe ... 9369439234

Any word on this Roy? I've been thinking about how helpful it'd be again as I'm trying to think about what festivals to apply to next year.Roy Janik wrote:You guys, I am working on one as we speak!

Re: Improv Festival Central Hub
I'd say that the National Improv Network is doing the closest thing to what I was envisioning, and even better on a couple fronts with the ability to submit to festivals by making profiles and such. I'm not sure how well it will be maintained, but if you haven't checked it out, it's worth looking:

You have to make a profile to view the festivals page, but it seems pretty up-to-date and legit.
