My dream ever since high school was to be able to take care of my parents and make sure they never had to worry about money.

To do digital puppetry - in performance.
For me and my family never have to worry about money.
For mankind to find balance and harmony with itself and the planet.
Decrease the net amount of entropy in the universe.

to tell a story that changes the world or someone's life...because they're the same thing.

To find courage within.
To spread kindness and laughter.
To teach art to little kids.

To say something vague that really no one can achieve on an individual or global scale and that I will put no effort whatsoever in achieving, but it'll be said and that's good enough.

to not needlessly be a dick on a message board and offer nothing of value to the conversation at hand.

I was just making a generic joke because I'm lazy? I wasn't trying to shit on anyone here.

it came across as more snark than joke. i know we joke plenty and give each other shit on these forums (because we're comedians and thus simultaneously have to assert our dominance and mask our myriad insecurities)...but it just seemed unproductive and a bit rude to come into a discussion where people are being sincere and a bit vulnerable and make a comment that seemed to imply that everyone posting was lying, delusional or a hypocrite.

sorry if i snapped a bit, but whether it was your intent or not, that's how it read to me (and almost everyone who's posted so far are dear friends of mine, so i get a bit protective).

I don't think I have the power to destroy someone's dreams with a forum post, and if I did I'd so smash dreams over at Freep or something, where they deserve it.

It's pretty much a safe assumption that if I look like an asshole then I'm failing miserably at trying to be funny.

i didn't say anything about destroying anyone's dreams. just that the comment came across as inconsiderate and uncalled for...even if it was meant as a joke, it certainly comes across as aimed at the expense of those who've posted in here.

maybe it's just me. maybe i'm being over sensitive. but i don't know you, so i don't think it's "safe" for me to assume anything but what's presented. tone is difficult to convey online. subtleties and nuances get lost. so it's best to take extra care.

nothing wrong with failing miserably at trying to be funny...we're improvisors. we excel in that art. :P but it might behoove us to consider the context and the medium and occasionally err on the side of NOT seeming like an ass. ;) (and the good Lord knows i've erred enough on the other side of that line for any one lifetime, so i know whereof i speak. :P )
