Call for First Thursday Volunteers - 12/1/05
The First Thursday site is down, but I'm assuming the 1st of the month is First Thursday (unless it is one of those first-Thursday-following-the-first-full-week-with-a-full-moon-on-a-Monday type things, but I think only the government is that convoluted). To that end, we will meet up and hand out flyers to passerbys.
When: Thursday, December 1st at 8:00 p.m.
Where: Directly under the big red Allen's Boots sign.
Why: Do draw in a crowd over the slow December month and not lose the momentum we've been building
What: Promoting Musical Maestro on December 3 and to let people know that we will be performing as usual throughout the month. (You are also encouraged to hand out flyers for your own troupe date if you want).
Who: Any Austin improviser who has a free moment and cares about seeing Austin improv succeed! The more we have the merrier it will be. Also the better the coverage and the faster the distribution. So, even if you can only come help for half an hour, swing by and give us a hand!
How: Primarily by handing our flyers and talking to people, but with the holiday season and a musical show looming, some improvizational carolling is a possibility.

Flyers for distribution
I made up some quick flyers for handing out. Anyone who wants to print some out can snag them here:

I like the phrase "A Very Special Holiday Special".

Thanks, I whipped 'em out quick, but I rather liked how they came out. Shame we can't do color handouts. My one complaint is how flat it looks in black and white. Oh well.
If there is anything that needs to be changed, let me know, but I think all the information is correct.
In case you missed the other thread on this, I plan on retooling the design a little and leaving the middle blank (including adding the slogan somewhere). Then any troupe can download the generic version, open it in Paint or Photoshop, type in their own name and time, and print them out for distribution.
The homeless-American, as they prefer to be called, is Tim. He is a Pisces. He enjoys the smell of a good cigar, long walks on the beach, and watching people eat "food" through the windows of fancy restaurants. Turn-offs include nuclear proliferation and hypocrisy. His most prized possession is his lucky 1943 copper-alloy penny which he carries with him at all times.
In the retool, I was thinking of shifting Tim out of frame a) to make more room for information on the right and b)because he's homeless and people will just ignore him anyway. Should he stay or go? You, the people, can decide.

Ditch the homeless guy. It's my mission in life to track down a nice digital camera and take photos of the hideout that don't involve homeless people.

I'm teaching a class until 10:00pm this Thursday, but I'll try to drag them to some First Thursday location for drinks afterwards.
