Harlequin Romance Title Bingo

Post by Spaztique »

This is an idea I've been bouncing around for a while, and I bet somebody's probably already done it before, but I'm finally acting on it anyway. I wanted to make a bingo game based on all the absolutely campy titles for the Harlequin Romance novels. They always include a very limited variety of buzzwords, professional titles, and stuff about secret love children, pregnancy, heroes, or whatever. My favorite title so far has to be "Billionaire M.D.", and I was intrigued enough by this title alone to look at the synopsis, and lo and behold, it was about pregnancy and a secret love child.

So, here's the prototype for one of the game cards (it'll look nicer when it's really done). If enough people think I should continue pursuing this project, I can make more so people can play legitimately. To play it for yourself, go to the eHarlequin website and see how many titles you can find before filling up the card completely (it only took me eleven titles to get a double bingo and eighteen to fill up the card). Though, the trashiest titles are best found in the Harlequin Romance bin in the Borders at the Domain.

Other words I need to include for future cards:
-Father
-Mother
-Princess
-Cover art shows glamorized profession
-Twilight/Midnight
-"Her" in title
-"His" in title
-Wedding
-Any holiday
-Fancy couple hugging on cover
-Wolf
-Kiss/Kissing
-Seduce/Seduction
-Home
-Marriage
-Forbidden
-Virgin
-CEO

Unfortunately, I need only look thru my wife's collection of "literature" to win this...

I think this is awesome. I hear Jesse Spots is very familiar with romance novels.
