FYI

Just in case you need a temporary car, car2go is an interesting option. They are those blue and white smartcars parked around town.

You can register for free and get a $10 Alamo gift card until Oct 17th. Just enter alamo as the promotion code. After that, the registration fee is $35.

Also, even if you are not a student you can use the UT shuttle system. It's a MUCH more useful and MUCH less skeezy bus system than Captitol Metro. Basicallly, it's a bus system that goes to various areas of town that have apartment complexes and stops at UT. At peak times they run every 15 minutes.

It's pretty much free because they don't check if you are a student.
