Just gravitating

Hello,

I'm a woman of a certain age, evaluating the things that made my life good, things I want to re-visit to make the rest of my time here more like that.

One of the happiest periods of my life was being on the fringes of Austin's spoken word scene. And community college -- one course in dramatic interpretation of literature, that was a highpoint I keep going back to in pathetic nostalgia as if it was a sacred gift I can't recapture. Major permission issues about performance, attention-hogging and self-expression in general. But I'm a born drama queen whose escapades can take unhealthy turns when too much gets bottled up so I'm researching, following a bunch of improv folks on Twitter and fixing to become an audience member; for now I just want to be in the vicinity of spontaneous, creative, playful human energy again. I had no idea Austin was such a mecca and am grateful for the beckoning.

And just to get it out of the way -- my name is Robin Plan and the handle is ironic.

Nice to meet you Robin!

We've got a free, low-pressure class tonight at The Hideout if you want to stop by. Of course, it starts at 7, so you'd have to read this very soon. :)

At any rate, welcome!
