The Fancy-Pants Mashup

While PGraph was off galavanting in Toronto, we saw and participated in a lot of fun shows. Some of them were so fun that we decided to steal them and put them up in Austin.

Some of you saw The Nightmare Video Project in the Marathon, so you know how much fun that was.

From the same people ( PROJECTproject ) comes The Fancy-Pants Mashup (they called it The Semi-Formal Improv Party or something).

I'm looking for 20 people who'd like to dress fancy, hang out, perform, and cheer each other on next Friday, the 18th, at 8PM. In particular, I'd like a wide variety of sensibilities and experience levels.

The way it works is this. Before the show you're given a secret number between 1 and 10. One other person will have your number.

The improvisers hang out in the audience. We call up a number. The two people with that number head to the stage and do some improv. They can take a suggestion, or start cold, or play a game, or dance to music. Whatever they want. But you won't know who you're paired with until you meet them onstage.

Oh yeah, and everyone dresses semi-fancyish. That's key.

Time-permitting, we may also do something at the end that involves everyone.

We did this in Toronto, and it was 1) both a great way to casually hang out and perform with people we don't normally, and 2) a really solid show.

Who's interested? I'll cast it Maestro style, and post the cast list here in a bit.

I'd like to play! It's been a while, but I think I can carry 1/20 of a show.

That sounds awesome, but I can't do it as I'll be out of town. Would love to do this if you do it again.

Sorry for the pointless post.

In case there's a spot free, I'd so want to perform in this. If all else fails, I'd like to sign up for tech.

Just do your best. The fancy part shouldn't hold you back.

Grarr -- Roy, could you promise me you'll do this again on some night when I'm not thousands of miles away?
