The Return of The Hideout's Improv Marathon - June 4th!

Post by kbadr »

“…sharp, focused, and riotously funny!”
- The Austin Chronicle

At 4:00pm on Friday, June 4th, The Hideout’s eight marathon improvisers will take the stage and stay there until 9:00am on Sunday, June 6th, performing 41 straight hours of improvisational theater and comedy without sleep or respite. Each hour of the marathon will be a separate show, featuring classic and upcoming Hideout formats, one-off shows never to be seen again, and guest troupes and players from Austin’s ever-growing improv community.

In addition to raising money for The Hideout Theatre, 10% of ticket sales will go to Theatre Action Project, a team of professionally trained artists and educators that offers creative arts and education programs for social change to over 15,000 people every year (www.theatreactionproject.org).

Most marathon shows will be $5. Full marathon passes can be purchased for $75.

This year’s marathon improvisers will be Jessica Arjet, Kaci Beeler, Roy Janik, Curtis Luciani, Marc Majcher, Bill Stern, Valerie Ward, and Meghan Wolff.

Exciting!

I'm starting to put together the schedule for the Marathon right now. 40 shows isn't easy to coordinate. If you've got an idea for a show or really want your troupe to be involved, drop me a line, either via PM or at roy@HideoutTheatre.com.

Just to be clear about how it works... the core 8 improvisers will be in every show, but every block will feature a guest troupe/show/format that they perform with.

So for instance, Cody will bringing his Buddies! improvised SitCom down from Dallas for the Marathon, and the show will be the 4 of them plus the 8 Marathoners doing an improvised SitCom.

Also, if you know of any out-of-towners who will be around during the marathon, let me know that too and I'll try to work them in.

Hey, Roy...

Obviously, I can't record the shows this year. But I think I can get WIT to wish you a happy first year anniversary and give you a little something to play onscreen at the marathon.
