IMPROVISED SINGING
(6 weeks June 25 - July 30 Sundays 1-4)
Due to the popularity of the one-day Improvised Singing Workshop, a new 6 week series of classes on improvised singing is being formed. This workshop will feature a live musical improviser every week and will cover topics such as duets, harmonizing, song structure, song styles, song presentation, lyrics, and communicating with a musical improviser. After 18 hours of training, the class will culminate in a live musical improv performance. $175
At The Hideout Theatre 617 Congress Ave, Austin, TX

Sweet. We should figure out how to encourage having more musical improvisers around, too. Then we can put our learnin' into practice in Maestro and everywhere else.

I'm planning on using 3 or 4 different musical improvisers for the class, so people get a chance to sing with different instruments and musicians.

There are great things happening around this workshop:
* I've submitted to the scheduling committee for our show date
* The marvelous Andrea Young is going to be the TA (We've already sketched out the curriculum to include duets, harmonizing, singing games, singing in character, and different musical styles.)
* I've scheduled four different musical improvisers (Pat Buchta, Nathan Kracklauer, John Ratliff, and possibly Mike Ferstenfeld)
* The class already has 15 students registered.
The class is already full, but I have a feeling there are still a few more people who want to register. It's great that the numbers are so high, but I was concerned about everyone getting enough attention and singing time.
So I'm thinking about splitting the class and having some students meet on Sundays 1-4 and some students meet on Mondays 7-10, if this works with enough people's schedules. That means more people can sign up for the class. Both classes would still perform in the show.
So if you are interested in registering and haven't yet, or if you wanted to sign up, but Sunday's didn't work for you, drop me a line. Let me know if you would be interested in class either Mondays 7-10pm July 3 - August 7 or Sundays June 25 - July 31.
Thanks!
