If only the website gave me any idea whatsoever the So ILL Improv Festival is.

I'm going to assume Southern Illinoise or all-rap improv.

Are you affiliated with Tamira Brennan? She was in my classes at Annoyance last year. If so, tell her hi from me.

We have added a day to the festival because of the large number of submissions we have been getting.

Thursday, March 25th will now be a local showcase so we have more slots for traveling teams on Friday and Saturday.

Keep sending those submissions!

The So ILL Improv Festival is pleased to announce our Workshops for 2010! Information and Sign-up will be available at www.soillimprov.com on Feb 28th.

Scene Work with Kate Duffy

Want to get out of your head in scenes? What to be in the moment always? Kate will work with you on clear, strong initiations and how to play games and patterns in your scenes to maximize the fun.

Kate has coached teams at the iO and is just back from touring/performing on a Second City cruise. She is an original member of the hit show Felt and just closed a successful 2 year run in the all female group Children of a Lessor God at the iO Theatre.

Improv Workshop For EVERYONE with Jason Chin

If you're capable of feeling and expressing emotions, having a conversation with another person, and want to.... then you can IMPROVISE! The secret behind Tina Fey, Steve Carrell, Stephen Colbert, and so many other performers and creators, is improvisation. This workshop will reveal the joy and power behind improv's 4 basic rules to make you a great improviser! Improv, as with all great knowledge, wants to be shared! Come join the fun!
ps- even if you're already a stage-proven veteran of improv, come and immerse yourself in the basics to re-energize your performance!

Jason R. Chin is creator of Chicago's longest running improvised news satire, Whirled News Tonight. He teaches improvisation around the world (having just returned from Texas and Australia). He was the Director of the Training Center for the iO Theater for eight years and remains a creative consultant to the improv institution. He is the author of the manual, "Longform Improvisation and the Art of Zen." He writes "An Improvised Blog" for the Chicago Tribune online project, ChicagoNow.com.

Ensemble/Group Mind* with David Montgomery

Ever wondered how great ensembles seem to know what everyone on stage is thinking? Wondered how they were able to move as one and create amazing stage pictures and games? This workshop will teach your ensemble how to clearly convey your ideas in a show and how to play theme. Sign up and learn how to make your ensemble play like improv rock stars!

*This workshop is open to teams that want to take the class privately as a group.

David Montgomery is a nine year veteran of the Chicago improv scene. He has coached multiple teams at the iO theatre in Chicago and played on the iO house team Johnny Roast Beef. David coached the all female team Duchess to a 2007 victory in the iO's Cage Match and the all male team Michael Pizza to a win in 2009. David will perform with Kate Duffy in their 2 person show Shoe Kick this spring at The Chicago Improv Festival.

From the second you turn on a tv, it starts projecting light and warmth into your room. The only way you're going to get light and warmth out of a book is if you set it on fire.
