Same year's eve?

Post by Matt »

I haven't heard much about planning for Same Year's this year. If somebody isn't already on that, I'll be willing to head it up. If you are working on anything related to Same Year's Eve, lemme know so we can coordinate!

This is my favorite show/party of every year!
Each year seems to get even BETTER than the year before. Last year's event was a recipe for FUN...

1 show (totally awesome and fun)
1 house (packed with audience)
1 smattering of guests (out-of-towners & AIC alumni)
3 cast lists (drawn from an actual MAGIC* hat)
3 sets (a. Improv Games b. Scenes c. Improvised Musical)
1 after-party (with mix of imps and friends)
2 tables of treats (potluck snacks that appeared out of no where)
1 tasty beer keg (provided "from, by & for" the AIC)

All these ingredients were then mixed with music (iPods, etc) and wild dancing, then topped off at Midnight with the "Same Years Eve" toast to Austin Improv

*magic in the sense that the shows created from the draw were extraordinary, and seemingly charmed by a mystical power.

NOT TO BE MISSED!

Didn't we have two shows last year? Or have we never done that?

I'm kind of in favor of just one show, but that's just me. What does everyone else think?

I only remember ever doing one show, with three acts (games, scenes, musical). If I recall correctly, we'd do the show 9 to 11, with party 11-1 or so.

Yeah, I guess you're right. I only see one show listed on The Hideout's old site. It was from 8-10, though.

I like this show/party...but it's tough doing it on a night when I have to work the next day.
I usually have to leave before the midnight countdown.

So...are we doing this?

BTW the DAY of this event will be December 30th!!

Usually the draw is done before the shows so that groups have 30-40 min to share names and make a plan for what they're going to do. So if you want to be in the show, you need to show up early (7pm?) and put your name into the hat! I'm sure there will be an official email about this later, eh?

ahhh!! I get it! "same year" - because the year doesn't change, unlike on "new year" when the year, in fact, does change thus becoming a new one...same year...

you guys are funny - i'm in, i look forward to the soirée!
