So this has been bugging me. When the gang first arrived at the temple, some woman identified them as having been on "the other plane" or something like that? Who was she
She was the stewardess on Oceanic 815 (who gave Jack his drinky & chased Charlie into the lavatory). She made one or two small appearances with the others (seeming to indicate she was one to begin with). The current plane is the Ajira, the other plan is 815.

I like Justin's thought that the writing may be meant to fool Esau. All I remember Jacob saying to Kate was "try to be good" or something like that.

Lessee -- the woman was Cindy Chandler, aka the flight attendant on 815.

The line you're thinking of is "I know who they are.  They were on the first plane, Oceanic 815, along with me."  So she meant Oceanic 815 as opposed to the second plane, Ajira 316.

ETA:  Ha!  Redundant reply is redundant.

Can someone who is savvy about such things point me (via email) to a site that has Season 6 episodes to download. Golds just installed elliptical machines that connect to iPods and play video and I want to use Lost to motivate myself to run. So...help!

I hate season 6. The writing is horrible so far. Redundant information. Horrible narrative structure..
in that there are NO surprises. Sure, they TRY to surprise us. Claire as a mad woman? No, no, no
(or taken over or whatever)...WE ALREADY KNEW THAT SHE AND LOCKE WERE CONNECTED. You
call that a cliffhangerish ending. Baaaaaaaah, i say, bahhhh...

They better start turning things around quick.

I am not a fan of the Hugo/Jacob thing any more. Gay, gay, gay....

Ha! But David's daddy issues actually got resolved...

Thank you. I feel this way too, thus far. A lot of the reveals appear forced and presented in a manner where characters could have easily explained the situations but shrouded them in mystery for the sheer sake of appearing mysterious.

Thirded. The whole Locke-in-a-box thing was ridiculously clumsy. Seriously, could anyone who's ever seen a television show before *not* guess exactly what was in the crate, and what was going on there? Give us, the viewers, the information that the characters are looking at right there, and we can avoid super awkward dialog like when they're talking about "that thing we saw in the box" while they're carrying it through the jungle.

Overall, though, enjoyed a good chunk of the last half of last season, and this season doesn't look half bad, either.

Fourth-ed.
Most of these 'alternate reality' stories are bullshit time-fillers with more of Kate being Kate and Jack being Jack blah blah bullshit jerkoff imaginary bullshit piano-playing sons

Haha.. you guys are precious.

I will say what I say over and over again. Every couple episodes, we get a slower piece of the story and everyone gets so mad and talks about how much they hate the show now. Then we get an episode like last weeks (awesome) and everyone's back on board!

Enjoy the ride and understand that you've got to sit patiently getting cranked slowly up that big ol' hill before you hear that last click and you're dropped through five loops and zip through a cave with strobe lights.

Jack having a son in his alternate reality was nice. I don't think it's a time waster at all. These realities are going to have to converge at some point so in a way, we're getting to see the epilogue during the last chapter.

Lost has always had its cheese-dick moments, it's just part of the show.

Well, I don't think I'm asking too much that at least one character has an alternate reality as a WWE Superstar or jet-setting diamond thief

I really like this season. The flash sideways aren't time fillers at all. We're seeing what the Losties' lives would be like if the island and Jacob never had any influence over them. They're all significantly different too. Just from what we've seen so far:

Jack resolves his daddy issues by connecting to his own son who didn't exist in the previous timeline/universe.

Locke accepts who he is and tries to be happy with it instead of constantly trying to reach for something better by "fixing" his life.

Hugo has a good life that isn't regularly filled with unfortunate accidents. He's successful, happy, and benevolent.

Claire is keeping and raising Aaron on her own.

Kate seems the least changed so far except for the fact that she's having fun with being on the run.

Ben is a high school teacher at the same school Locke substitutes at. I'm sure we'll see more about this Ben later.

This is all stuff that the characters have been dealing with the entire series, and we're seeing some closure on their issues in the flash sideways. Also, you could make theories for the flashes sideways like this one I read elsewhere:

"It's the ending. Rather than have some final scene where everything is reset and we're left with our imaginations on what their lives will be like, we're being shown it now."

If that turns out to be true, that's makes the entire season one long, cool final episode. Plus, each flash sideways has some bleed over from the world we know like the appendix scar Jack questioned in last night's episode and that Juliet removed his appendix on the island.

The Jack episodes are most people's least favorite episodes too. Although, I think last night's was the best Jack episode I can remember.

Technically, we don't know for sure that alterna-Jack is *not* secretly a jet-setting diamond thief.  Just sayin'.

Doesn't seem like there's any method to the madness of the alternate realities -- they're all willy-nilly and half-assed or convenient.

And furthermore, people coincidentally running to each other in the alternate reality does not resonate with me if I HAVE NO IDEA WHY ANY OF IT IS HAPPENING.

That said, Lost is better than it's been in a while. That said, I still resent being trapped watching it every week.
