i like how he was constantly fidgeting with his wedding ring. he's absolutely horny for his VP pick! which i don't understand...she's got that weird plastic Katie Holmes-ish sideways smile thing going on. not attractive.

Saw Palin talking with Cindy McCain briefly as I walked by the TV (both in profile) and thought "Oh look, Megan Mullally chatting with Amy Poehler".

Governor Palin,

I thought I might take this opportunity to give you a short list of some of the more influential community organizers the world has offered up to us. I think it's worthwhile to point out to you the hypocrisy of denigrating the special type of person that dedicates their life to the betterment of their community and the world at large while supporting a political party that laments the transformation of the US to a "nation of whiners." But, enough of my blathering. I'll simply let this short sampling speak for itself:

Martin Luther King, Jr. - notable Civil Rights Organizer, you may know him as that guy who said something about a dream

Cesar Chavez - notable labor leader and community organizer who established what later became United Farm Workers

Samuel Gompers - American labor leader who established the American Federation of Labor, one half of the organization your party courts every two years

Frederick Douglass - freed slave, an acitivist for equal rights, led a drive to enlist African American men into the Union Army during the Civil War, and at the 1888 Republican Convention was the first African American to receive a delegate vote for President of the United States

Mohandas Ghandi - community organizer who united the oppressed population of India against British colonial tyranny

Susan B. Anthony - community organizer and woman's suffrage activist, founded the National American Women Suffrage Association.

Elizabeth Cady Stanton - Social activist and is credited with the foundations of the first women's rights movements

Lucretia Mott - Active in both Women's Suffrage and African American Suffrage

The Founding Fathers, including:

John Adams - community organizer, lawyer and activist against British colonial tyranny in the American colonies, second President of the United States

Thomas Jefferson - community organizer, wrote the Declaration of Independence, 3rd President of the United States

Benjamin Franklin - community organizer, established the first lending library in the United States, the first organized fire brigade in the United States, created bifocals... and also helped write the Declaration of Independence.

and also,

Jesus Christ - community organizer, vocal dissident against political and religious corruption of both the Hebrew Temple and the occupying Roman Empire, most notably the Son of God.

Ms. Palin, being the mayor of a small town in Alaska is nothing like being a community organizer.

One example of abject hypocrisy that Stewart hasn't pounced on yet (and I hope he'll make a funny about it) is that Palin once supported that "bridge to nowhere" that she was so proud to say she rejected in her convention speech:

very odd to happen upon this thread again nearly two years later...an archive of a time when Sarah Palin was actually considered the bright and rising star of the GOP.

a time before she became a Fox News correspondent shill and spokeswoman for fringe nutbags.

a time before her daughter decided to ballroom dance on a reality show alongside another "star" best known for his abs.

a time before her daughter's baby daddy posed for Playgirl and pitched his own reality show...to run for the Mayor of Wasilla.

did satire become reality, or did it happen the other way around?
