I've been wondering the same thing for some time now, but not hard enough to actually ask anyone about it.

I did, however, stumble across a very sweet book on mime at Half-Price Books yesterday - this one, should be - and intend on starting to work through it starting now-ish. Although, learning mime from a book seems kind of like (insert your favorite architecture/dance metaphor here), so if anyone comes across some other good resources, give a holler.

I chose my words carefully, so please re-read. First, I said a Shakespearian actor... thus using an extreme, specific type of actor. I also said "doesn't get much" to allow that people benefit from all life experiences.

My point was that everyday experiences help improvisers much more directly than other types of actors.
