Goes to show how important our injured FS stud Malcolm Jenkins is to the defense, I completely agree Sharper's great career is done.
Harper really screwed the pooch today, but he's played consistently well for us and still has a ways to go and I hope he's re-signed. Draft need #1 definitely OLB, Vilma simply needs better help, especially if Williams wants to play with fancy 3-4 packages.
I'm also ready to see Reggie Bush go. His salary is too bloated to justify keeping around who has to be the most frustrating player in the NFL.

Yeah, you drop Bush you can afford a high caliber OLB and SS. Whether by draft or free agency.
Besides, with the show Ivory put on this year I think really don't need him (or that cap load) anymore. Do you know how much the Saints are going to have to eat in bonus if they part ways with him?
(Curiosity just got the better of me. If I read aright it looks like after the restructuring he's due 12.8M salary and only about 700K in "likely to be earned" bonuses for 2011. NO is going to able to just cut him with negligible loss if they can't find a team willing to take that 12.8M cap hit in some sort of trade deal. If I were a GM I wouldn't touch a deal there, I'd just wait the Saints out.)
I'm surprised you like Harper. Getting torched by Carlson a couple of times yesterday aside, he's just generally never showed good football awareness when I've seen him in action. I think he's 28 or 29, too. I don't see him getting much better. Perpetual special teamer in my book.

Sorry for the Chiefs; the Ravens were just too solid and will be tough to stop.
Chiefs have successfully pulled out of a franchise slump, though, and have some great talent that'll just get better and better as they gel. I expect the Chiefs to be quite the team next year!

Sorry Shannon,
Looked like KC had a chance when they were running outside early, but I think inexperience caught up with them when they got a bit behind and they just got too nervous and started trying to do too much (and turning it over).
Some of that has to be on Haley, though. KC started looking nervous when they were only down 13-7 or so. Not exactly time to start freaking out. Haley should have been able to talk them down.
Ah well, a lot of talent there. I love Charles and that kid Berry at safety. Moeaki isn't Gonzalez, but looks to be a serious up-and-comer too. A little seasoning and y'all could pull a nice deep run next year.
Who are you hoping for to replace Charlie Weis? Big shoes there.
Josh McDaniels, maybe?

Yeah, when KC went for it 4th down and the Ravens stuffed the Chiefs, you could just feel that they started to believe in how good the Ravens D is, and the panic attack started in. Cassel had an epic 2nd half spaz attack. They've got a lot of great young players, though, they'll be fun to watch for the next few seasons. Haley and Pioli have shown they're good with the draft, so it'll be fun to see what they do. Despite yesterday's performance, I'm still high on Cassel--the Chiefs big problem is they don't have any big receiver weapons besides Bowe and defenses can game plan for shutting down Bowe like the Raiders and Ravens did. They need to go get another long ball guy, either through the draft, or, my preferred method, by trying to get Larry Fitzgerald from the Cardinals--Fitz thrived at Arizona when Haley was there and would be a good fit for KC. They should ship Tyson Jackson off along with a draft pick or something.
As far as O Coordinator goes, I don't see McDaniels's personality being a good fit with Haley--both dudes are too diva.

Who would have thought on Friday that the only division winner to make it out of Wildcard weekend would be the Seahawks. Crazy season.

Pretty interesting weekend! I was happy, for sure, about the running game. Too bad they didn't activate Starks earlier in the season for GB. And... that final interception in the end zone was AWESOME good fortune.
Gotta say, the Hawks was also a fun game to watch. No offense to the Saints fans out there. It was interesting that the team from the (arguably) crap section of the NFC ended up winning versus last year's champs.
Of course, I hope the Packers get into the Super Bowl, but (1) I'm a realist and (2) I won't be able to watch it, since I have a performance that night!

The Pack just took ATL out of their game early. The Falcons are an efficient dink & dunk/rush/eat the clock team with (at best) an average D. If you get a team like GB that's going to go drive 80 yds and score averaging something in the neighborhood of 2:00 per possession you're going to have to make big plays right back - and Atlanta isn't set up to do that.arthursimone wrote:the Packers have my blessing to beat the snot out of the Falcons
Logistics aside. Didn't ATL just look like they had a bad case of nerves going on? It was a who's who list of "dumbass mistakes a football team can make" out there. It's still too early too make this call, but does anybody else see Matt Ryan getting hit with the old Peyton Manning "can't win the big ones" tag (until, of course, he does)?
Man, that PIT-BAL game was fun to watch. Easily my vote for best playoff game so far.
Watching the end of CHI - SEA now. Booooo-rrrring. Back after Pats - Jets, which I suspect is going to leave Rex Ryan a very unhappy man.
I know we've got a lot of Patrihaters here - but doesn't a Rodgers/Brady Super Bowl shootout sound like fun?

Eh, I think I just stopped caring. I don't care enough about the Jets or the Steelers to get interested, and I can't really root for an NFC North team outside of the Vikes unless I thought the matchup was going to be really interesting.Tim Traini wrote:If the Jets beat the Pats, I don't think there'll be any Superbowl matchup possibility I won't enjoy watching.
I think the Ravens/Steelers is going to be the highlight of my post-season.
BTW - I am completely mystified by Belichik's coaching strategy in the 4th - they played like they were up 10, not down 10. Add that to good Jets D and a few miscues from the Pats (Crumpler's early endzone drop comes to mind).
Ryan won the coaching matchup today. I tip my hat.
