Worth it for the title track, but also "Tikwid." I keep playing that track over and over. It's one of the few tracks of their's that's both completely bizarre (in their usual way) but also so pop that it could be on the OC or something. I really really like that track.

Weird trivia: I used to know these guys when they were high school kids in the Baltimore burbs (except Noah, who lived in the city when i knew him). They were all super-nice dudes.

I've actually been listening to a lot of random note intervals and chord progressions to help my Dad study for his ear-training tests. It's making radio a strange new playground of sound. If you're musicly inclined, you should try it. It's fun. EAR TRAINING!. There's better sites than the one I listed, but it's free and it works. There's also some good freeware.

Lately I've discovered the new Scissor Sisters album, Ta Dah.
It's like disco-dance-rock-pop and I love it!

Lately I have been listening to Ok Go over and over again. Revisiting Sinead O'Connor. And downloading varied stuff ranging from Ted Leo and the Pharmacists to classic Roy Orbison and Johnny Cash.

Can anyone suggest other tunes for me to download?

Still mainly listening to audiobooks, though I've heard a lot of the Scissor Sisters lately.

Audiobook-wise, I've almost exhausted what Audible has to offer Discworld-wise, which is most of the books. Just finished listening to "Going Postal", which I have to say is one of my favorite Discworld books so far, since the protagonist is a bastard, and knows it. Now I'm listening to "Thud!" which I think is book 30 or something. Also took a brief side-trek while my Shuffle was lost and listened to Ursula K. LeGuin's "Changing Planes" about a lady who travels to parallel universes whenever she's bored at airports.

i love this man. traditional and original and funny and sad and beautiful songs about christmas. 5 cds of them. plus a sing-a-long book with the chords and words for all of the songs.

Ditto to Sufjan.

And to Christmas music in general. I'm such an idiot for seasonality.

Nothing celebrates the birth of our Lord and Saviour Jesus Q. Christ more than the Jackson 5's take on Up on the Housetop, the Chipmunk's burning desire to receive a hula-hoop, any duet between Kenny Rodgers and Dolly Parton, or Petty Booka's ADORABLE rendition of Rudolph the Red-Nosed Reindeer.
And one of my personal favorite "seasonal" songs, Marky Mark and the Funky Bunch's Good Vibrations. (Not actually a joke.)

Also, I'm enjoying Gogol Bordello a lot at the moment, but not for Christmas. I think they might make Jesus cry.

Best Christmas song, and the only one that really makes me feel like it's Christmas: The Kinks, Father Christmas. I'm instantly transported to the backseat of the family car, driving down Southern State Highway, when I hear it.

He went back to school to get his associates degree in music. Jazz guitar.

I played chords for him for an hour and a half last night. He called after the quiz to tell me he aced his quiz and to thank me for helping him. I was so proud, I almost cried. Talk about role reversal.

I cannot stand Christmas music.

I also cannot stand the holiday season in general.
I am sitting down right now and cannot stand unless I decide to.
