How sweet is it on a scale of 1-10? 1 being sweet and 10 being the improv stylings of Upright death by shark mice.

I'm pretty sure that close to a 10. You can get it at Waterloo I'm sure. That label has been putting out a bunch of archival Nigerian stuff lately.

Yeah, I have this other CD that Bob gave me which seems like it might be very similar.
I was wondering if Bob gave steph that cd as well...
Shannon, have you seen the documentary about Fela Kuti called Music Is The Weapon?

No I haven't. I bet that's really sweet.
I think I may have posted this before, but if you want to get deep into the weeds of some Africa shit, I really love this blog:

Sic Alps - U.S. Ez
~30 minutes of awesomeness. Can't stop listening to this.
On a big tour right now, playing Austin for TWO nights at Beerland and Club 1808 Sept 21 and 22 with
Thee Oh Sees. Cannot wait. Who wants to go?

U.S. Ez is the release you've been waiting for, right Bob? I'll have to dig it up and give it a spin sometime. I've been meaning to give Sic Alps a try, and this thread reminds me every time.

Hey Brad -- it is most definitely is what I'd been waiting for, both specifically from Sic Alps and generally throughout my life</dramatic hyperbole>. The CD's out Tuesday, the LP in about a month, but you can, uh, preview it
here. btw- I fully admit that they may only be my cup of tea -- they're not the next Beatles or anything (though that cover above is actually 'Sic Alps' pasted over a photo of Beatles' White Album.)
There was also a compilation CD (A Long Way Around To A Shortcut) that came out in May, pulling together two years of 7"s, 12"s, and random cassette/comp tracks. This is also great, but potentially overwhelming at first (26 tracks!).

i've been on a dual indie chick/musical theatre kick the last few weeks, so mostly bouncing back and forth between Feist with a little Ani Difranco here and there and the Wicked and Into the Woods soundtracks.
i am a massive dork.
