that's awesome!DollarBill wrote:I just realized that Ace and I have pretty much the same resume, address, and I'll be borrowing one of his shirts for the audition.

One down! I got the halfway cut.
But I still had fun and felt good about what I did. I swear I got the most laughs. I guess I just wasn't what they're looking for. I think Ace will get a callback for sure. He's perfect for this. Anyone wanna move into his room when he's gone?

I'm still in denial. I'm gonna go with this quote of Dave's:
Dave wrote:Conversely, just cause you get "excused" first doesn't mean you don't get a callback. If I know I already want to give someone a callback, I might excuse them right away and spend the rest of the audition time looking at people who I am on the fence about.

I'm not holding out any hope. I wasn't that good. The 4 people who made the cut were Chicago vets. They were some of the more popular performers at iO and Second City. Except for one of the guys who, during hitchhiker, did an impersonation of Will Ferrel doing an impersonation of Harry Caray. Based on Buckman's comment about rehashing SNL bits, I thought he'd be cut for sure.kbadr wrote:Dave did say that they send people away sometimes when they've seen enough to know they want a call back...so you didn't necessarily get cut.
I wish I had made the cut just cuz I was actually having fun in the audition. Ah well, live and learn, and then get loves, and then go to a movie in them so you don't have to worry about getting up half way through to pee in a "real toilet".

kick its ass.
yes sir.
Just for the record... I auditioned 3 years in a row before gettting a job as an asst. director my fourth year... plus my ex-roommate who was already in the cast did some talking me up
And at Second City I auditioned 2 times over 4 years before gettting hired as a director.
If I wasn't interested in the director track, I might not ever have been hired at either place.
These are hard gigs to get.
Boom typically sees 500-600 people in two cities for 36 callbacks and maybe 2 hires
Seecond City typically sees 1000 people for maybe 24 callbacks and maybe 4 hires
AND they like to see people progress over the course of a year or two to make sure they are getting better, not slowing down.
I'm sure Bill was great (as he always is) and will be even better next year.

If you disrespect your character, or play it just for laughs, it will sell some gags, but it's all technique.
