I feel that if you're going to have a good old-fashioned movie night, you should do it right: with a cartoon at the top. Or maybe a newsreel. Possibly both.

I have plenty of cartoons (mainly Warner Bros) on DVD or VHS, most of which I can give commentary for regarding historical setting or directorial choices.

I don't have any newsreels, but I bet Jastroch and I could make a couple.

And like Shannon, I too could provide a reel of my past TV and film exploits. The condensed version of my week-long stint on As The World Turns is a real gem.

Some more suggestions:

MASH (movie, not TV show)
Shaun of the Dead
First season of Spaced (seven episodes long)
Mad Max
Death Race 2000
Reefer Madness: The Musical

I'm trying to think of movies that would be cool to watch with a group of people. Movies that evoke some type of strong emotion, whether that's laughter, shock, or tears. I can think of some movies, like Mad Max or Death Race 2000, that may make people scream, "Fuck yeah," but don't know what emotion that is. Is bad assness an emotion?

Just do us all a favor and show Lost for the next month.

Like the theme of Dark Comedy. For which I would pick Parents or Eating Raoul.
After Hours (Martin Scorcese)

Sweet Smell of Success

Bringing Up Baby
Miller's Crossing[quote]

Yeah! Long Goodbye! Yeah! Miller's Crossing! Bringing up Baby! Janik would like that one!

Robot Holocaust!!!
Have you seen it?!?!? God damn, I want to see that movie. Next time you are in I Luv Video, do yourself a favor and go look at the case for both it and Roller Blade. Here's the plot keywords from Roller Blade, according to IMDB:

* Female Nudity
* Lesbian Scene
* Happy Face
* Nudity
* Nun
* Roller Skates
* Independent Film

That is correct!

Justin, If you are interested in doing a double feature, I could do this or almost any Sunday for a second film.

Think about it...

Along that line of thought, add Over the Top to the list for some solid arm wrestling action. Child custody battles should always end with a good arm wrestling match.

Nice! And winning a big rig truck. And a dude who drinks motor oil.

I may have to be late to this. Ha ha. I may work for the crew at the Wranglers game. I should probably make it on time, though. If not, I know Asaf has a key or maybe another ColdTowner wants to open the doors.

This is totally acceptable, as the point is to keep it casual. News reels and cartoons are fine, so long as I don't have to do anything.

Casual!

SIGH. I'll do it.

and to yes and Mr. Dearing:

Everyone interested in making art should see the Fugazi documentary Instrument.
