You're just mad because Miller made Robin into a red-headed girl in The Dark Knight Returns...
But I agree, Miller's Batman does take a bit getting used to, and his style is either you like it or hate it.
But how can you not like panels like this:

Strangers in Paradise- Terry Moore
Julius Knipl, Real Estate Photographer-Ben Katchor
Also, not at all a graphic novel, but I love the one panels of creased comics by brad neely.

Double yay. Katchor's The Jew of New York is pretty damn good too, as is The Beauty Supply District. Man, Jastroch, we sure do like a bunch of the same stuff. What's the world coming to?

That makes me think of
The Golem's Mighty Swing. When I was a middle school teacher, I gave my students a huge list of almost 200 books to choose from to write papers on. Almost half those books were graphic novels or TPBs. I remember one of the kids said he didn't like reading, but didn't want to get a bad grade for not doing the report. When he told me he liked baseball, I told him to try that book out. He actually made his father take him to the book store just to buy the book and then told me later how much he liked the book. Not only did I get a kid to read who normally doesn't like to, but I may have taken a budding jock and turned him into a comic nerd. OK, maybe a budding jock/comic nerd.
