We now have some pretty compelling evidence that whoever put the dollars in worked left to right. The first letters of each of the known recipients' names are in alphabetical order.
I'm gonna go out on a limb and say that the last two peoples' names start with T.

Does the dollar I got from last year count? It was attached to a note that said "Thanks for all the sex!!! Here's a dollar. - all the women especially Elizabeth"

However, the envelopes weren't hung in strictly-alphabetical order, which implies that although the recipients were chosen alphabetically, they were nonetheless chosen intentionally.

i also think the last T-name person is going to be male considering the count right now is 5 females to 4 males. which can lead us to believe that the inventor of this scheme is a feminist, be they male or female.
