So, regarding time passing on the island...

The helicopter trip to the boat should have taken about thirty minutes (according to Juliette, "About what?
Twenty minutes) and yet an entire day has passed (Jack says this).

That's about 1/48th the time. Sayid even asks how it was that they left at dusk and arrived during the day.

Does this time passage math apply to the outside world in relation to the island?

Is it possible that if Aaron were brought back to the island as a toddler, everyone would be astounded about
how much he had grown in two weeks? "God, he looks two years old!"

Are there dinosaurs on the island yet or does this show still suck?
They call me Dollar Bill 'cause I always make sense.

The baby wasn't on the flight manifest. Therefore, I wouldn't consider him part of the Oceanic Six.

I think the side effect for Desmond is over and that the line to Sayid was acknowledgment that he was back.

I like your idea about the growth and I think maybe they will be applying the justification on why Walt is suddenly tall to Aaron as well.

(sp***er)

You know George Minkowski, the freighter guy who went time-crazy and died?

I just found out his name is that of a tensor in general relativity.

Look!

Neat, huh?

Here's my theory that I've derived from thinking about your excellent theory, Chris.

1. Faraday was distressed ("This is not good," he said) when he looked at the time differential when the rocket arrived for his experiment.

2. The rocket arrived 31 minutes after it was fired.

3. One can assume that a rocket traveling the distance of a "20 minute" helicopter ride should take around a minute to reach its destination. With regards to Chris' "1/48th" idea, it would probably be expected to take a longer time than 1/48th of 31 minutes for the rocket to reach its destination.

4. Then again (bear with me, I just thought this up a minute ago), 1/48 of 31 minutes is roughly 40 seconds. I guess it's not out of the question that a really fast rocket could traverse the distance of a 20 minute helicopter ride in 40 seconds.

5. To simplify the "helicopter distance," we can say that distance is about 27 miles, with the assumption that the helicopter is going about 80 mph.

6. By the way, that rocket would be traveling at a speed of 2,430 mph to go 27 miles in 40 seconds. So let's say it couldn't do that because they don't have a supersonic rocket launcher on the freighter.

7. So I propose that Faraday was upset because the time differential between the island and the outside world is not a constant. The island's time difference fluctuates (slows down, speeds up, but probably remains slower than outside time) in relation to the outside.

8. The fact that time fluctuates there would make Faraday worry that humans traversing the island's time vortex could be in danger, like how Desmond and Minkowski were adversely affected.

9. That's why it's important to Faraday that there be a material constant, because the immaterial property of time is not a constant on the island.

10. And yeah, that's why Walt is older. And yeah, although they've been on the island for 3 months, it's been not 48X longer than that in the outside world, but it's been some unpredictable number of times longer than 3 months outside the island.

And readers of this have lost some very precious time in their lives as well.

Yeah, I don't think the specifics of exactly how much time gets warped is as important as the fact that it happens.

Does the time warp happen only in the air? Does it affect people on boats or submarines? Does it only affect people who have been radiated or magnetised?

Did the trip still feel like a thirty minute trip for Sayid? They flew into a dark strorm at dusk and it was day. I want more "Holy shit!" about this from Sayid, because I surely would have filled my pants with mango.

Did destroying Walt's comic book doom them all?

I'm giving due credit to Kristina for this one. When Daniel opened his book at end of the episode to the page that said "If anything goes wrong, Desmond will be my constant," may have given us an important piece of information to why we always see Lost characters in the background of other characters' flashbacks. They are each other's constants.

I played in one of the episodes from the first season. I was driftwood collector #3.

Inside Kate's makeshift passport is a little note that she wrote to herself.

"Driftwood Collector #3 is my Constant."

The link below has a great breakdown of what one Lost fan thinks Rousseau's island history is.

SPOLIERISH if theories spoil things for ya.

Maybe it's the fact that my skin crawls when people misuse apostrophes like that writer does, but I just can't hang with that theory. Rubs me the wrong way.

I want to know more and more about Faraday. He's my favorite new character they've introduced since Eko in season 2. Oh, Eko... we hardly knew ye.

New Lost tonight! Yip!

I've read some general things about tonight's show.

I'm excited too!

Anyone got a loaner boxset?
Hey Roy, I want to do this too. Let's have a sleepover.
I want to be at this sleepover! I mean come on, a sleepover with the two coolest guys in the AIC? Can Asaf and Vines come too? I'll make cookies and bring clothes to play dress up in. We can do eachother's hair, tell ghost stories, and cry at the end of lost! Then we can have a big giant tickle fight.
