AN IDEA (SPOLIERISH ONLY IF I'M CORRECT)

Eight people were saved, but the press has called those who returned the Oceanic 6. It's kind of hard to say Oceanic 8 when you only have six visible bodies. I think that Kate DOES get pregnant by Sawyer (and lies to him about it) and that Sun also returns pregnant (and possibly Jin as well). 6 people and two soon-to-be-people.

If so, then that would make the OCEANIC 6=Kate, Hurley, Sayid, Jack, Sun and Jin.

THEREFORE, the body in the coffin is...Sayid's. Who in the states would come to Sayid's funeral? We know that he's in a dangerous line of work,so he could very easily get killed in the line of work.

Of course the body could be somebody random not even on the island that both Kate and Jack know.

If my Oceanic 6 idea is correct, then that means that three or four years have gone by and would explain why Jack does not want to see the baby...it's Sawyer's. Also, this gives Jack time to become addicted to pain killers and let the weight of HAVING TO LIE about what happened on the island (I really want to know for sure who they are all lying for...Ben, yay, but who beyond that) push him to the point of a near suicide attempt.

This is all probably very obvious, but hey...

The time travel stuff is very important stuff, but I haven't really wrapped my brain around it just yet, partly b/c I haven't actually seen (only read b/c I was desperate) last night's episode (thanks for nothing DVR!!!).

Wait so if Des is really traveling in time in his flashbacks/flashforwards, what the hell was going on with the engagement ring lady?! The one from 3.8 "Flashes Before Your Eyes"?

Lost is a Harold, fuck the plot, enjoy the ride, it will come together organically and everyone will be exhausted and speechless.

I don't know how I feel about the last episode. I don't like the ones where it focuses too much on one person.

No no no, last night's event was a new and novel event for Des, not associated with his flash predictions. It was like some kind of time-trip illness brought on by moving through a volatile space between the island and the boat.
Oh, and also that Des took a lot of EM radiation that made him naked.

I agree, Trew, I think it is better when the episodes are ensemble pieces.

And Chris, the only thing about your theory, is that it seems when Kate is on trial it is taking place very soon after their return. For her child to be at that size and at that time and be one that she birthed with Sawyer, she would have to be mainland for a couple of years before coming to trial. And I don't think that is the case.

Also, I do not think that the Oceanic 6 are the only survivors, I think they are the only public ones. Though why Kate would go public, I do not know. I suppose she wanted off that island that much. I think Sun and Jin survive but stay in hiding to keep away from her father and that is part of why the others have the story of who survived. Similarly, Sawyer. Kate would have to have a specific reason why she did not use the story that was already being concocted to help hide her.

Chris Allen, the deal about "8" is that's the official story, and the official story is some kind of elaborate lie. It seems that the official rescue story is that the Oceanic Six were the six crash survivors who also survived being on the island. The other two died on the island. It's just a bunch of smoke and mirrors for the masses, whereas, yes, I agree with Asaf that there are probably numerous survivors who are stuck on the island. That's why they HAVE TO GO BACK.

But I don't agree that ensemble episodes are necessarily better. Last night's episode had three golden moments in it (one of them was [SERIOUSLY CJ STOP READING UNTIL YOU'VE SEEN IT!] Farraday telling Desmond to come see him in 1996), and it was extremely satisfying for me that ACTUAL GAME RULES (about time travel) were explained in a single episode, rather than an episode showing strange events and only hinting at what might have caused those events.

Oh did anyone else pick up on the Black Rock first mates journal at the auction? They said it had been in the possession of the descendant? and I think they said that was the Hanso family? Why would he sell it?

Kate calls the baby "Aaron" at the end of the trial episode. So it's Claire's baby and we're at least a year or two in the future.

Does the baby count as one of the Oceanic Six?

"Kate's" Aaron is at least 2 years old, definitely more than one. (On the island, Aaron's only 2 months old).

I got into a squabble with my friend about the question of Aaron being in the Oceanic 6. My friend was swearing up and down that he must be, but I think it's a Schroedinger's Cat thing. We don't have enough data to determine if he is or isn't.

On a sidenote, I've decided that this thread could use some more images, 'cause images are fun and pretty. I'll start.

So, do you think Desmond is going to keep shifting in time? Or once he contacted Penny, it ended for now? Is he gonna be a super bad-ass time jumper IF he does have everything under control. Also, when he finally acknowledges Sayid, is this because his memory is back or because he feels that (as Sayid said ealier) Sayid has become his friend now?
