Hey now. Every state has plenty of corruption. We're just honest enough not to cover it up.
Hey, did I just manage to get under Justin's skin? I thought Nadine had a corner on that in the feminist thread... :o

You're right, though - and my comment was about the perception, not the reality. For some, Louisiana politician=corrupt (well, extra corrupt).

I remember John Gotti saying something very similar. Radical Robin Hood populism.

So a few more people to toss out there:

Build a buzz around Kay Bailey. She's said she doesn't want it, but I think McCain would benefit from the buzz of talking to her, even if he doesn't choose her.

Or, Elizabeth Dole. She's generally well-loved, compassionate, and knows the politics well. She's not who a lot of people would think of, but she'd make an damn interesting choice ofr McCain.

Or, McCain could ask Hillary Clinton. Let's see what that'd do to the Democratic party come November.

As for the Jindal speculation, I don't think he wants it. I think he was elected "to do a job", just like Hillary vowed not to run and leave her first term in the Senate. I think he should play it, get some national exposure (like Obama did at the last nominating convention) to get his name out as a young up and comer in the party but say that he'd rather "stay home and do the job he was elected to do first." Bust his hump rebuilding efforts there and then in four years say "Now I'm ready to run" if McCain loses this time around.
"I do."

Neither you nor Nadine got under my skin. I wouldn't let anyone have that satisfaction outside of a traffic situation.

I'm proud of Louisiana's corruption. The lack of progress is what keeps us from homogenizing as quickly as the rest of the country.

If he does that, then I'm going to say that old people jokes are totally fair game. Right now they're funny but not fair. But creating a dust ticket is asking for it.
