If'n you've heard this one before... but:

Framed pics in the hallway are great, but framed pics of individual headshots autographed are better. Any quasi-celebrity to ever roll through town should be encouraged to leave one being. Hell, anyone with a headshot should submit one signed, regardless of who they are. So long as they look good, we can trick people into thinking there's a 'hot buzz' with the Hideout.

tricks.

There's also alot to be said for an audience participation bit in the middle of sets, like Improv Olympic's "dream" game or ComedySportz' "birthday song." Bring 'em up on stage so they can wave at their friends and feel cool.

patronizing and tired ideas, yes, but from an underground marketing standpoint pretty darn effective.

How is the website going? I think it would be great to have a quiz there in the manner of "What troupe should I see?" Everyone loves to take quizzes. We can all take them and put them in our livejournals and whatever. I'd be interested in helping to write this quiz. I love quizzes. Additionally, the results can be used independantly as marketing tools for troupes. We can post flyers around town with the exact replica of results pages. For example:

You should see:

You're friendly and playful, and probably more than a little weird. You're looking for a good story, you want to see improvisers work their asses off to give it to you, and maybe kill some small animals along the way. Their name is long, and the story arcs are longer. And they might buy you a beer after the show.

What Austin troupe should you see? http://www.austinimprov.com/troupequiz

Yeah, some sort of meme wa proposed many moons ago, but it got dropped.
We should definiely bring it back. Especially now that troupes are supplying the things necessary, like photos.

(Although I hate that picture of me and I pray it doesn't become our official photo. We should have a photo day and go around taking pictures in places.)

That's lovely! Can I use this as your mini bio.
or...I mean - I'm going to use this as your mini bio unless I get another one from you guys before I glue
this one onto my most recent hidout/arts&crafts/sign project.
Is that pushy?

I say go for it. I think we all have the best intentions of writing a mini-bio, but we just haven't found the time.
Val's words ring true by me.

Aww, who doesn't love squirrels?

(I don't like how I look in that picture either, what's going on with my right arm? Having a picture day is a good idea and could turn up some more visually interesting pictures, yeah)

Thank you Dave for making me look like a bloated squirrel with fat cheeks.

I'd also like to thank everyone else that made it possible, in no particular oder:
Casino El Camino, and their delicious burgers
Watson and Crick, for inventing genetics
Central Market, and the "Cheese Queen" and her aisle domain
Squirrels in general, for giving me something to compare my fat cheeks to
and of course, who could forget, Jesus.

"I'm just as God made me."
Quick, without looking, what's that from?
