My first game as a freshman I had to ask someone if I heard it correctly because it was so lame. We're the most unoriginal school in the nation. We're called the Bulldogs after Yale and we still pay royalties to the Green Bay Packers for use of the 'G' logo. I'm still a huge fan, though.

PS: Texas' "The Eyes of Texas are Upon Us" is to the tune of "I've been Working on the Railroad."
You're a Georgia grad too???????? Did I know that?

The word is "Fight! Fight! Fight! for IOWA,
Let every loyal Iowan sing;
The word is "Fight! Fight! Fight! for IOWA,"
Until the walls and rafters ring (Go Hawks!)
Come on and cheer, cheer, cheer, for IOWA
Come on and cheer until you hear the final gun.
The word is "Fight! Fight! Fight! for IOWA,"
Until the game is won.

I waited to post that until after the game. I guess I have to keep cheering until next season. I'm going to run out of breath.

Fight for old St. John's, cheer for old St. John's
for the good old red and white
Show them how to fight
Let them feel your might
For St. John's will shine tonight
We will rally 'round you, cheer you, help you win another game
Though you may be battered, you will win it just the same
Redmen, fight, fight, fight for victory
A cheer for old St. John's

Go SEC!

6 teams in the top 25. Hell of a league.

And Bama might get Major Applewhite as OC? Interesting...

On Wisconsin!

Post by arclight »

"On, Wisconsin! On, Wisconsin!
Plunge right through that line!
Run the ball clear down the field,
A touchdown sure this time.
On, Wisconsin! On, Wisconsin!
Fight on for her fame
Fight! Fellows! - fight, fight, fight!
We'll win this game.

On, Wisconsin! On, Wisconsin!
Stand up, Badgers, sing!
"Forward" is our driving spirit,
Loyal voices ring.
On, Wisconsin! On, Wisconsin!
Raise her glowing flame
Stand, Fellows, let us now
Salute her name!"

I like how in the original, "Run the ball clear down the field" is replaced by "Run the ball clear 'round Chicago". I changed the first two lines to:

"Deutschland, Deutschland, über Alles
Plunge right through that line!"

but for some reason it didn't catch on. It scans though, better than "Run the ball clear down the field." 'Field' has one syllable - duh!

Our other athletic favorite is "You've Said It All" which is easier to remember, especially when drunk:

"When You Say WIS-CON-SIN, You've Said It All!"

It was later coopted by some beer company. Go figure. :?

It's just fucking ridiculous that our government is discussing those things in the first place.
