I like cookies, coffee, painting things, getting hopped up on sugar, and running around. Count me in.

My oldest is a red cross trained baby sitter and is quite willing to help out if too many rug rats show up. She also just compleated her second improv show - nicely, too if I do say so myself!

It is official. I am having this thing. If you didn't get an EVITE and are interested in coming, it is probably bc I didn't have your email. Please PM me with your email so I can add you to the guest list. I'm keeping a running tally of people so I will know how many cookies to make.

should i bring some blank cookies? You know, like the unfrosted sugar kind? Or are we making those.. Also, if we have to bring a small child to eat, i'm S.O.L.. Or is that a B.Y.O.B. thing too? I have a younger brother but he's fourteen, and past the small child stage..

I will be supplying the cookies. The recipe I use is an old German recipe (from my great-grandmother), and uses MACE - a derivitive of Nutmeg. My family has been making Mace Cookies yearly since I was a little girl. And as an adult, I have been making the cookies for about 10 years.
The cookies take at least two days to make - 1 day for the dough, one day for the rolling out, cutting, & baking. The second day is pretty difficult. But over the years, I've gotten pretty good at it. I have also collected a good variety of cookie cutter shapes.
I will be happy to share the recipe with you, but you should come and give them a taste test first. Not everyone likes Mace Cookies. They are intentionally (bitter?). It is really the icing (powered sugar, lemon juice, evaporated milk) that makes them sweet.
BUT! Whether you think they are tasty or not, the PAINTING of the cookies is really fun.

Thank you to all who came out and made this year's Cookie Decorating party a smashing success.
I saw a lot of truely beautiful, edible art. Sorry, no great photos and all the cookies are GONE. All the cookies were painted, and most were then eaten or boxed up and taken home to be eaten later.
But that is the nature of this medium. The art is very temporal, but satiating.
