I am reading a lot of anti-war sentiments here. What about being fair and giving both sides of the argument?

"God has a hard-on for marines because we kill everything we see! He plays His games, we play ours! To show our appreciation for so much power, we keep heaven packed with fresh souls!"

Had it not been for war, we wouldn't have great lines like that in movies. Hah! Actually, if it wasn't for religion we wouldn't have great lines like that in movies also. Double Hah!

You know, that movie was one of the reasons I enlisted in the Marines.

But war can suck. It's not as glamorous as the movies show (Trust me I've seen combat zones) and it really messes you up if exposed to it for prolonged periods.

I think religion is one of the most common causes for a war with money coming in a close second these days.

I want Jules' type of war. Messy and sloppy, yes, but damn fun...Hail Venus!

Please don't think for a moment that I was serious. In improv terms, movies (and much art) are a tremendous justification for a very bad thing.

As for religion, I would have to say that there is a significant argument that more good than bad has come of it throughout time. Think, for example, how many lives have been saved by people at a dark point of desperation when they found God. Also, missions for the poor, good education that's affordable often, orphanages, etc. Many church groups have helped Katrina victims in many ways. That's something that really hits home for me.

Then again, think of all the technology that has improved our lives that came from war.

You take the good, you take the bad, you take them both and there you have the Facts of Life.

Is there anything Tooty CAN'T teach us?

Ok, I kind of just adore you for that remark.
