Good news: got out of the game.

Better news: with the skull.

Bad news: If any of the characters start bleeding from the eyes or the page fills with gibberish, shut off your computer FAST. In fact, unplug it and RUN.

Also, if there are things you think you should be able to ask people about, let me know -- it's easy to add responses :)

what are the functional commands? (or is that something you're supposed to figure out playing the game?) I have no experience with this kind of thing.

So far, "pick up ticket," "ask X about Y," "enter Hideout," "Look at Z" and "examine Z" all work, but "walk up stairs" and "go upstairs" do not. I even tried "ask Carl how to go upstairs" and "ask for help." Nada.

Basic instructions would help.

type in "help" and it will take you to the help menu. try just "up" and "down" for the stairs and ladder.

I've tried:

>up stairs
I only understood you as far as wanting to up.

>walk up stairs
I only understood you as far as wanting to walk up.

>go up stairs
I only understood you as far as wanting to go up.

>use stairs
That's not a verb I recognize.

>take stairs
You can't see any such thing.

>find stairs
That's not a verb I recognize.

>walk up stairway
I only understood you as far as wanting to walk up.

>enter stairway
You can't see any such thing.

>go up stairway
I only understood you as far as wanting to go up.

HOW DO I GET UP THE STAIRS?

A huge part of the game is "ask x about y".

So "ask Carl about syrups" or "ask Brad about skull" will likely get some kind of response. Unfortunately articles are not well understood, so "ask Carl about THE syrups" will not compute.

(Also, you can enter HELP to get some general information about these sorts of games.)

(EDIT:  D'oh!  Jordan already covered that.)
