I don't think anyone is saying silent scenes are bad. Silent scenes can be some of the best improv out there.

He's working out the kinks.
I guess what I'm finding out is that it's fairly rare for a new improviser to enjoy *not speaking*.
Usually people try to talk themselves out of ditches.
I think the point about not making an incorrect move-- that clicked the most with me. I mean that hits the nail on the head, clearly that's gotta be what's going on.

Guys, just to let you know... I play a lot of fighter pilots.
Even if you explicitly initiate a scene where it doesn't make sense (e.g. a scene taking place in medieval Mongolia), I'll probably play a fighter pilot. So just a heads up that I'll be a fighter pilot a lot regardless... it's kind of my style.
